ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project premises start from constructive simplicity. In this sense, the intervention aims at a synthesis of very few elements made “to measure”, which seek to achieve the greatest scope with the minimum effort. 4 metal plates make up the deck and the support in the form of a “T” generating an extruded surface 24 meters long, which is positioned parallel to Ellauri street. The quadrant of the rear lawn is replaced by a continuous pavement of high-resistance concrete tiles, forming the benches and a neutral esplanade, which multiplies the area of use of the square. A gesture that connects both continuous spaces of the environment and manages to give prominence to the central object, transforming it into a true attractor.

The materiality responds directly to the conditions of implementation and maintenance of the memorial. The large tabletop is conceived with iron sheet plates painted in black, emphasizing solemnity, in contrast to the concrete of the pavements and benches, which is considered as an alternative of noble and resistant material for the active use of public space.
