This house-refuge is inserted in a rural landscape on the east coast of Uruguay, close to the Atlantic Ocean. It is arranged as a single place, an open and continuous space that provides shade and builds intimate shelters to inhabit the landscape in an intense and direct way. We had to keep in mind the sporadic use of the house and the absence of continuous maintenance.
A house that supports the constant scourge of the climate in the area and that assimilates it without suffering in the attempt. The material choice was oriented in this sense, we looked for a material austerity that would provide texture and was capable of registering the interaction with the climate and the passage of time.
